Haters said PV Sindhu loses her calm and composure in the finals while some others said PV Sindhu will never the finals because of her mentality. But, PV Sindhu was right on the money to create history in the Badminton World Tour Grand Finals.
She did something great that every Indian appreciated her achievement. She held her nerves very well and defeated Nozomi Okuhara 21-19, 21-17 in the straight sets. This goes to show how the ace shuttler dominated her opponent in all aspects of the game.
Take a bow, PV Sindhu! Now, no one can tell, you can’t win the finals. The win meant a lot for OV Sindhi, which helped her take No.3 spot in the players’ rankings. After a string of 6 silvers in major finals this year, she bagged her biggest single-week pay cheque- USD 1.2 lakh- around Rs 86.30 lakhs.
“Yes, now you people will not ask me about why I keep losing finals. Because all the time, it was like, ‘you are coming in the final and not winning’. But in a way, it was good for me. To take it in the positive sense, because people kept asking me and targeting me, I had to literally think what was happening,” emotional PV Sindhu said after winning the finals.
Sindhu remained unbeaten through the week, essaying comprehensive wins over badminton’s biggest names- Tai Tzu Ying, Akane Yamaguchi, Ratchanok Intanon and Okuhara, her 2017 World Championship rivals.
