India’s ace shuttler Saina Nehwal settled for yet another runners-up finish after surrendering at the hands of China’s Han Yue by 18-21 8-21 in the women’s singles final of the Syed Modi International World Tour Super 300 on Sunday, 25 November. Losing two straight sets was the most heart-breaking moment for Saina.
The final lasted for 34 minutes and Saina Nehwal must have been absolutely gutted for missing out on gold. However, she will learn from the mistake and is certain to bounce back in the upcoming games to come. It was indeed a heartbreak for Saina, who couldn’t put immense pressure on Han at the right place. She settled for silver with a cheque of USD 5,700.
The London Olympic bronze medallist is yet to win her maiden BWF title of this season. Saina, who clinched a gold and a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, had concluded as the second best at the Indonesia Masters in January and Denmark Open in October this year.
