For so many years with respect to sporting events, stats, results and performances are proof of the fact that India dominated Pakistan through and through. Be it any sport, the sporting carnival between India and Pakistan is so special. How many times have we seen India getting the better of Pakistan? This time too, it was nothing new.
The India U-19 Women’s team clinched a comprehensive victory over Pakistan by playing perfect football. Not 1, 2 or 3 goals but the girls chipped in as many as 18 goals to humiliate their neighbours in their opening fixture of the first round of the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Qualifiers on Wednesday.
Well, the team coach and the fans couldn’t have asked for a better response from the team that sent Pakistan packing at the best scene. Mindsets are affected for Pakistan and there are lots of woes to be sorted out. The girls put on a spunky performance and the exuberant win followed them around like a shadow. Renu was the pick of the players as she scored as many as 5 goals, which came in the second half.
On the contrary, Pakistan failed to score even 1 goal past the Indian goalkeeper. It was a nightmare for them. Pakistan coach Mohammad Siddique Sheikh said that it is a learning curve for Pakistan, as their players were on the pitch for the first time after a big gap.
“We were banned by FIFA for three and a half years. So we played absolutely no football back then. India have already started an impressive development of their women’s game. We are just starting out on that front. It will take time, but we have to treat this as a learning experience,” he said.
