There is no better feeling than winning a gold medal for India, an unmatched feeling that can not be put it in words. Imperious performances win you medals and Vinesh Phogat proved what she is capable of as she hit the headlines for comprehensively clinching a gold medal in 50kg freestyle.
By virtue of commendable performances, the two-time Commonwealth Games champion wrestler was top notch in her approach as she didn’t let his opponent Japan’s Irie Yuki give any snippet of breathing space to go for the kill.
Irie Yuki was nowhere close to posing a serious threat to Vinesh Phogat and hence she ended up losing to Vinesh. Interestingly, this is Vinesh Phogat’s maiden Asian Games gold medal on Monday and is fifth overall for India at the ongoing 2018 Asian Games.
Vinesh well and truly dominated the contest with relative ease by taking a staggering 4-0 lead at the start before extending a tad further to 6-2 to pocket the yellow metal. Vinesh Phogat easily won the semi-final battle against Daulatbike Yakshimuratova of Uzbekistan, as the referees took a mere 75 seconds to announce the winner by technical superiority (10-0).
Vinesh Phogat had come a long way in the competition outclassing great players in the respective rounds. She previously essayed a comfortable 11-0 victory over South Korea’s Kim Hyungjoo in the quarter-finals, after trouncing China’s Sun Yanan by technical superiority 8-2 in the 1/8 finals.
