PM Narendra Modi set yet another example of working behind the screens which everyone probably might have failed to notice. He has gifted houses to Tamils of Indian origins in Sri Lanka on Sunday, which was indeed a great initiative taken by the Modi-led government.
It is learnt that the less unfortunate ones have been without homes struggling all day. PM Modi government sprung into action to sort out the woes as quick as possible. The event took place via video conferencing from New Delhi. As of now, India constructs 4,000 houses for Lankan Tamils.
PM Modi congratulated the beneficiaries via a video message by emphasising that the houses are not just physical structures but a realisation of their dreams. He added that Tamils of Indian origin in Sri Lanka have bolstered the relationship ties between two great nations. During his visit to the island last year, PM Modi announced an additional 10,000 homes in the region.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who handed over the houses on Sunday, highly praised India’s dedication and commitment in collaborating Sri Lanka in development projects, a press release said. Mr. Modi, joining the event through a video conferencing link, said: “Sri Lanka has been and will remain special for India,” recalling the commitment of the government and people of India, “to be with the people of Sri Lanka in their journey towards greater peace and prosperity.”
