In what was a shocking incident, a doctor of the state-run health centre in North Dinajpur district was brutally beaten by a bunch of goons who caused carnage to the Hemtabad Block Hospital. The disastrous incident happened following the death of a patient, the police said.
Nobody in the hospital saw this coming and all of a sudden, some people came up to the doctor and started beating him relentlessly. The nurse who was sitting beside the doctor quickly escaped from the spot. The doctor almost fell unconscious after he was attacked badly. A man who saw this horrible incident immediately sprung into action by defending the doctor.
But, still, the goons didn’t stop as they kept on beating him. They even threw chairs and other things at the doctor. Violence should not be encouraged by any means and the accused. As you can see in the video, the culprits crossed their limits to beat the doctor. Had it not been for man’s defence of the doctor, things could have been a different story altogether.
A case was registered against the culprits and nobody was arrested. Policemen confirmed that the 32-year-old patient Tabeda Khatun was taken to the health centre with issues of high blood pressure and asthma last night. On-duty medical officer Dr Bipul Ghosh referred the patient to Raiganj Super Specialty Hospital but Khatun died before being admitted there as per PTI inputs.
Following this, a mob, including family members of Khatun, assaulted the doctor today and destroyed the hospital. Police further added that Dr. Ghosh has been admitted to the Raiganj District Hospital in a very serious condition.
