Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday, went to Jammu & Kashmir and met the Indian Army jawan Aurangzeb family’s residence in Poonch. The Defence Minister Sitharaman said Aurangzeb and his family is an epic source of inspiration for the entire nation. Indian Army soldier belonged to 44 Rashtriya Rifles and was posted in Shopian district.
Sitharaman who spent some time with the family of Aurangzeb, told the media,”I came to meet martyr’s family. I have spent some time here. One message I can take back from here is that here’s a family, here’s a martyr, who stands out as an inspiration for the entire nation,” she said.
Sitharaman’s visit came two days after Army Chief General Bipin Rawat also met the Aurangzeb’s family. Following Aurangzeb’s death, his family had made an emotional appeal to the Centre and the J&K government to end militancy from the state. In what was a cold-blooded murder, the rifleman was kidnapped and later killed by terrorists in Pulwama’s Gusoo.

Indian Army jawan Aurangzeb was laid to rest in Poonch as he received full state honours on Saturday and hundreds of people marked their presence in his last rites. The martyred soldier’s body was earlier flown from 92 Base Hospital situated at the 15 Corps at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar.
It was a dark day for Aurangzeb on June 14, when he boarded a private vehicle to arrive Shopian, to go to his home in Rajouri district on behalf of Eid celebrations. But unfortunately, the terrorists blocked the vehicle as it came near Kalampora and then they kidnapped the soldier.
Aurangzeb was later found by a team of police and Army at Gussu village, which is about 10 km away from Kalampora in Pulwama district. The police confirmed the news that Aurangzeb was shot in his head and neck.
Sources in intelligence agency told Zee Media that four terrorists – two from Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and two Hizbul Mujahideen – were behind the kidnapping and killing of Aurangzeb. Sources went on to add saying that the terrorists used an Alto car to kidnap the soldier.
