In another heartbeaking news of attacks against minors, a four-year-old girl in Haryana’s Faridabad district was raped, severely beaten and stabbed to death by a 24-year-old man who used to work at her father’s sweet shop. The horrifying incident took place on Thursday in Asaoti village in Faridabad’s Palwal (which is about 80 kilometres from New Delhi).
The dead body was found inside the container and the medical test confirmed that the child was raped before she was murdered. According to National Crime Records Bureau Data of 2016, around 13% of female victims were of age 11 and below. In 94.6 per cent of the rape cases reported, the wrongdoers were known to the victims.
It is learnt that the culprit Bholu (Virender) had been working for the victim’s father for the last nine years. On Thursday afternoon, the girl was sitting at the shop and when Bholu saw her, he took her to his house and severely raped her. After that, he stabbed her to death and packed her body and kept the body in a drum at his house.
The accused then came back to the shop and behaved as if nothing had happened. The victim’s parents came to know that their daughter was missing at the spot. When the girl was not found anywhere in the evening, he (Bholu) also accompanied her parents and fooled them in the search process. However, a neighbour who had spotted Bholu taking the girl away from the original spot had informed the parents about it.
Knowing this, the villagers rushed to Bholu’s house quickly. Bholu’s mother, initially, was not even willing to open the door and then she turned off the lights where the drum was kept. This gives us a little clue that Bholu’s mother knew about the incident.
“When we started to look for her, he too participated along with us and kept fooling us. When we went to his house, his mother didn’t tell us anything. She was not even willing to open the door and turned off the lights where the drum was kept,” the girl’s father said.
“We want him to be hanged to death. He was so brutal to my daughter. We want justice.
Justice because we lost our daughter but nobody else should lose their child,” said her mother.
The culprit has been arrested under the sections of IPC and POCSO. According to the police, Bholu who is married was not living with his wife for the last two years. “The accused has been arrested under sections of IPC (Indian Penal Code) and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) and sent for three days of custody. We are investigating all CCTV footage, blood stains and eyewitness statements,” said Devender Singh, a police officer.
