Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam is a tough nut to crack. In a competitive world, where people sweat it out to give absolutely everything to crack the exam, only very few have touched the pinnacle of success. Some who fail to clear would give, whereas some with ‘never give up’ attitude try their hands a couple of times to pull off something spectacular.
Durishetty Anudeep falls into the different bracket. He did not make a couple of attempts but five in total. He failed everytime but never gave up. After missing out on 4 attempts, Durisheety Anudeep cracked it in the 5th attempt to become the UPSC exam topper, results of which were announced on Friday. What really presses the case is the fact that he did not attend any coaching coaches before marking his presence for the prestigious examination.
It was a dream come true moment for the 28-year old Indian Revenue Service Officer Durishetty Anudeep and the fact that he tried his hands five times on the exam pretty much sums up everything. Hailing from Telangana, Durisheety expressed that it wasn’t an easy journey for him as he had gone through many tough times before relishing the taste of success. “This is my fifth attempt. I have failed thrice before, and the journey was not easy for me,” said the first-ranked holder.
Currently, the proud Durisheety is plying his trade as an Assistant Tax Commissioner in Hyderabad. He began his ideal preparations for UPSC exam way back in 2012. He had to manage everything all together as he studied for the exam as well as did his job. He made use of the weekends to good effect and his efforts paid rich dividends.
“Since I had a regular job, I did not get much time to study during the weekdays. So I used to make the most of my weekends and study hard,” Durishetty Anudeep told NDTV.
Durishetty Anudeep has pursued engineering from the prestigious BITS Pilani and has also spiced it up for Google. The UPSC topper would be forever grateful to his family for the way they have supported him. According to him, without parent’s support, he would not have “My family has been my backbone and if I did not have their support, I would not have been able to top the examinations,” said Durishetty Anudeep.
Over 9.5 lakh candidates applied for the UPSC preliminary examination in 2017. Out of them, 4,56,625 candidates attended the exam.
