In India, where we have people throwing girl child on roads and drains, we have a man from Gujarat who adopts those girls who had lost their fathers and gives them a secure life by doing their “Kanyadaan”.
Mahesh Savani, from Raparda Village of Bhavanagar, Gujarat, is a businessman who shares his interests in diamonds, realty estate and education. He is a father to 470 orphan girls, which makes him special among other businessmen in country.
Around 10 years ago, Mahesh had lost his beloved brother in a road accident, after which he stepped up on his own to play a role of father in his nieces wedding and had done their “Kanyadaan”. This incident forced him to think about those girls who had lost their fathers somehow and there is no one to take care of them. Sarvani understands this very well, that how difficult it is to raise and get a girl child married, for a woman who has lost her husband.
Sarvani says that they give a girl, clothes, ornaments, utensils and five house appliances during her “Kanyadaan”. He has been organizing mass weddings from past 5 years and is a proud father of many girl now. He gives gold and household items, including sofa set and beds to a girl and spends around 5 Lakhs on each wedding, so that the girls can start their happy married life with a boy.
He also organized Hindu, Muslim and Christian wedding on December 25, 2016. He says that he feels proud in arranging mass weddings, in which his own son Mitul and his uncle’s son Jay also got married.
He is a big businessman and a renowned personality of Gujrat, who has taken the initiative to get fatherless girls married. He becomes their father, taking all the vows of a father during their “Kanyadaan”. He takes responsibility of every bride on him for all his life. Girls also feel blessed to get a responsible father.
