Gurmeet Kaur suddenly broke into limelight after posting a picture on social media which quoted “Pakistan didn’t kill my father, war did”. Gurmeet’s father Capt. Mandeep Singh tragically lost his life in a militant attack in Jammu Kashmir in 1999.
There have been a set of mixed reactions to this statement made by Gurmeet Kaur and we all have been reading news on how controversial was Virender Sehwag’s satirical tweet on this aspect.
But now, a person who has experienced something similar as that of Gurmeet, has come out to the social media and requested her to not insult her father’s death by defaming it on social media. Pooja, daughter of Lance Naik Moolraj, who was martyred in the Pathankot attacks, spoke a media channel on Friday.
Gurmeet Kaur’s all out assault on Akhila Bharata Vidya Parishat(ABVP) led to some obnoxious death and rape threatens from anonymous people. Tuesday morning, Kaur tweeted confirming that she was quitting her battle against ABVP.
“I’m withdrawing from the campaign. Congratulations everyone. I request to be left alone. I said what I had to say,” Kaur tweeted.
Punjab Police is providing her special protection post she had received those threatening calls and messages in her home town, Jalandhar. Currently, Kaur is studying in Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi.
