Notorious monkeys stone a man to death, police confused as family wants an FIR

In what was a shocking incident, a 70-year-old man was stoned to death by notorious monkeys in Uttar Pradesh where the deceased family requested police to register FIR against the monkeys today itself. The incident took place on October 17 in Tikri village of the district where the old man was sleeping on the heap of bricks in the village.

Circle officer Ramala Rajiv Pratap Singh told PTI that the deceased was sleeping near a heap of bricks when some monkeys jumped on the bricks which in turn, caused a major collapse and then it fell on Dharampal, leaving him severely injured. He was admitted to the local hospital where he succumbed.

Giving a different angle, Krishnapal Singh who is the brother of the deceased, in his complaint said that Dharampal was collecting woods for a havan (a ritual burning of offerings like grains and ghee, which is held to mark special occasions like births, marriages, and other functions) when he was attacked by the monkeys. According to him, bricks were thrown at his head and chest, and he succumbed to bad injuries at the hospital.

“We have submitted a written complaint against the monkeys, but the police is terming it as an accident,” he said. He said they will now meet senior officials and request them to take strict action regarding this matter.
