Right After The BJP-PDP Fallout, Yasin Malik and several other separatists Arrested

The sudden collapse of the BJP-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir has certainly brought the state’s political instability to the fore. The state’s uncertain political future has been linked with a larger political picture and debates that revolve around one major concern that is the Valley’s security situation.

However, sudden developments have taken place right after the fallout with two of them being the arrest of Yasin Malik and house arrest of Umar Farooq. Malik was taken into custody from his Maisuma residence and the complaint has been lodged at the Kothibaug Police station. The Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has also been placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence.

This fallout has created a political vacuum but it is undoubtedly the right decision that should have been taken long back. The civilian administration under the ruling coalition of BJP and PDP was so fraught and unstable that the conflicting currents of that government were making it easier for Pakistan and its deep state to execute its terrorist activities.

It can be concluded that this fallout will hand over more power to the Jammu & Kashmir Police as previously they were allegedly forced by local politicians to adopt a soft approach towards separatists but now the force can be expected to act more independently.

This statement by the DGP of J&K Police shows how the fallout will result in peace at the valley:

“Operations will continue. Only thing was in between, during this (ceasefire) period, the operations were stopped. They were going on earlier also, but we will intensify these operations in the days to come. And it would be, I think, much easier to work.”

We also believe that Political will is the first step towards the right direction in eliminating terrorism. If you agree with the same and have opinions on these recent arrests, share them with us in the comment section below.
