Meet Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer – World’s Highest Paid CEO – The Youth Story

They say women are the real architects of the society. Right from taking care of children and house to extending their valuable contributions to the company and the society, they have always accomplished beyond human imagination. This is why women are an indomitable force in the world.

Successful women reinstate our faith in women empowerment as they depict what women can do if they are given equal opportunities. Marissa Mayer comes under the same category. She is an American information technology executive. She previously worked as the President and CEO of the leading tech firm Yahoo, a position where she was at the helm of company’s business operations.

What makes her more special?

She was pregnant with a baby, when her interview was scheduled by Yahoo. She never hid the fact that she was pregnant at that moment. She went for the interview and got selected for the CEO position in the company.

She did a fanatstic job. She started working from her home and looked after all the work of the company with a baby in her belly. It was indeed tough to manage her family as well as the giant company. Suffice to say- she emerged victorious. 3 months later, she assumed the office after delivering a baby and took the company to a whole new height of success.

She was a dedicated woman towards her job. To our surprise, she even built a mother’s room next to her office. Her ability to look after her child as well as the work made her a class apart. She is the world’s highest paid CEO in 2014. Her net worth is estimated to be a whopping US$ 540 million.

Yahoo’s operating business was sold to Verizon Communications on January 30, 2017. She then announced her retirement on June 13, 2017. She was also a key spokeswoman for Google. Marissa Mayer was featured in Fortune magazine’s annual list of America’s 50 Most Powerful Women in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 with ranks at 50, 44, 42, 38, 14, 8 and 16 respectively.

In September 2013, Mayer became the first CEO of a Fortune 500 company to be highlighted in a Vogue magazine spread. Mayer made a name for herself as a successful woman as she appeared on the List of women CEOs of Fortune 500 companies in 2017. She has been ranked 498 of the top 500 Fortune 500 company CEOs.
