Husband died, She became a coolie to make her son army officer

The responsibility for the survival of an old mother-in- law and upbringing of 3 children was on her shoulders. She travels daily 270 Kms to Katni Railway station, carries a load of passengers to lighten the burden of her life.

Sandhya Maravi, a 30 years old lady, works as a coolie at Katni railway station. She has been taking care of her children while working in kitchen and the fate deceived her. A happily married life suddenly turned its phase and death took her husband Bholaram in its lap, who was diseased. Her family lost the balance over finances. The worry of raising children and getting 2-time meal arranged for everyone started haunting her, but Sandhya did not give up. She decided not to leave any stone unturned to manage for better care of the children.

Kalyani Sandhya is not only burdening the world every day, but is also managing a travel for 270 Kms every day to earn a few bucks. Every evening she manages the journey to 45 Kms from Kundam to Jabalpur, then to Katni railway station. With such a difficulty, she earns for the sake of children and empty stomachs in home. Her Coolie badge number is 36.

After losing Bholaram, Sandhya immediately applied for coolie work. Since January2017, she is carrying weight on her head and shoulders like men. She is the first women coolie of 45 outlets in Katni. She is living her life with her companions carrying burden on her head.

With an un- natural death of her husband which has left all memories, Sandhya is all shattered. She has a huge responsibility of her old mother-in- law and her 3 children for whom she is the only earner and life pillar. She travels this huge distance only to fill their stomachs and to give a respectable life to her children. She has a dream for her children to make them an Indian Army officer. We all pray, that such a strong woman will get for what she has been doing drudgery.
